
How to bake cake!
We all love yummy treats and baking a cake is one skill everyone should learn.
Follow these simple steps below and you’ll be well on your way to making yummy cakes and leave anyone asking for more.
TOOLS NEEDED:
Baking pan (small size)
Mixing bowl
Whisk
Hand mixer
Spatula
Hand towels
baking paper
SPONGE CAKE RECIPE:
Margarine 250g
Sugar 250g
eggs 250g
flour 250g
Flavour of choice 1 teaspoon
Baking Powder 2 teaspoon
METHOD:
A) In a bowl, using a hand mixer, mix butter/margarine on speed level 4 until soft and fluffy (about 15-20mins)
PREPARTION:
Pre heat oven 180 degree centigrade.
Line baking pans using a brush and a little margarine, rub margarine lightly inside baking pans and line with baking paper.
separate your egg whites from yoke in a separate bowl.
Measure out your flour and sieve in a bowl.
measure your baking powder and add to already sieved flour.
B) Reduce mixer speed and add egg yokes to already mixed margarine and sugar. continue mixing on speed 3.
C) Add already sieved flour and baking powder. Remember to reduce mixer speed while adding flour to prevent
splatter. mix for about 2 minutes.
D) In a separate bowl, beat egg white on mixer speed 5 till its pale and fluffy.
E) Switch off mixer, pour in already beaten egg whites to the mixture in mixer and fold in using a spatula.
fold in for a few minutes (1 min) to prevent over beating.
F) Pour in cake mix into already lines baking pan (half way full) to allow it to rise sufficiently.
G) Put baking pan in already pre heated oven and bake for 20 mins a 150 degree centigrade.
Check for doneness by inserting a skewer in middle of cake. it should come out clean.
please do not open oven until cake is more than half way into baking time
